Moving from Shanghai to Sydney

Sydney, located on the southeastern coast of Australia, is the capital of New South Wales and the largest city in Australia by both area and population. Its mild climate, developed economy, beautiful environment, and diverse cultural atmosphere have led the United Nations Human Settlements Programme to rank it among the world's most livable cities for many consecutive years.

Mr. Li from Shanghai emigrated to Australia with his family. After purchasing a house in Sydney, he planned to move his furniture from China as well. Through a friend's introduction, he found Seapoe Relo and submitted his moving request. After a brief conversation and encouraged by his friend's moving experience, Mr. Li signed the shipping contract on the spot.

On the agreed date, Seapoe's packing team arrived at Mr. Li's former home in Shanghai and began wrapping the furniture and other items to be shipped. The multi-layer packaging was designed to ensure that Mr. Li's furniture and belongings would not be damaged during the long journey.

Notes on Moving from Shanghai to Sydney:

1. The Australian government stipulates that new migrants or citizens who have lived overseas may bring their personal effects and household items owned and used for more than one year in their place of residence into Australia duty-free. If there are brand-new items, they must be declared truthfully to customs and are subject to a 5% tariff and 10% GST in accordance with customs policy.

2. For customs clearance of personal effects, the consignee does not need to be present on-site, but must provide copies of their passport photo page and visa page, complete a personal effects duty-free entry application form (B534), and provide a packing list and ocean bill of lading before customs clearance can proceed.

3. Generally speaking, the items brought by moving clients are ordinary goods and do not involve politics, video discs, dangerous goods, and the like (these are of course prohibited). What to watch out for includes items such as: food (dried goods and meat), alcohol (including alcoholic and flammable), and medicine (cold medicine is fine, but health supplements and other medicines are not). These are the usual items; for special items, please inquire separately. Australia is fairly lenient with migrant moving clients, and most items can be brought in.
